OYER £143 RAISED . • . ifi RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS The committee in charge of the Whakatane Ambulance appeal held its final meeting on Monday n"<iht when the balance sheet was presented and the competitions drawn. The balance sheet showed a surplus of rcecipts over expenditure amounting to £143 Is lid. Results of the competitions Werei ..Armchair, presented by Bridgers Ltd No. 237 ? L. Ramson. r Infant's Frock, presented Miss K; Smith, No. 5 Mrs F. Williams. Cake, presented M;*s Cleland, T. J. Moore. * presented Mrs 856, J. Stewart. The, balance sheet showed door tak ings at the ball as £66 16s Od, sale of tickets £11 Is, supper tickets £10 Ids 3d, donations consisted of £3 3s from. Mr A.,. .Hayter£2 2s • from the Old Boys Football £2 2s from the Bay of Plenty Beacon, 10s from Mr S. Whitworth, 12s from Marriotts Ltd, 5s from the R.M. Company, lighting 7s Gd ? other donations £1 7s. The return from competitions showed that the Easter' Egg donated by Mr Dawson brought £2 10s i Mrs Dunderdale's chocolates £3 4§ 6d, Mrs Hayter's cushion £3 Bs, Mr Thomas? Pyrex dish £1 4s 6d, Mrs Cleiariuh? cake £4 13s, Messrs Bridgers' armchair £23 14s 9d ? Miss Smfth"s frock £1 9s. The stall brought in £8 17s 3tl. and collections realised £9 17s 10d T making a total of £157 14s, 7d. In, the expenditure printing amount ed to £6 14s 6d, power to £1 12s 6d» help Stl 10s, benzine 10s, hire of crockery catering £1 15s ' 2d, screen advertising ss, expenses St. John's Ambulance £2 5s 6d, a total of £14 12s Sd expenses. It was considered that this result was extremely satisfactory as' the committee had thought it Would be doing well if it raised £100. On Mr Walker's motion, seconded by Mrs S. Armstrong, Sen., a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs A'. Hayter. chairwoman, and th 1 secretary, Mr J. G. Mulholland.
