QUEEN CARNIVAL

FATE OF THE FUNDS RUGBY UNION'S OPINION The matter of the Queen Carnival was raised at last night's meeting of the Whakatane Rugby Sub-Union when the chairman, Mr W. S. Henderson, said that there was a possi,, bility of a curtailment of the effort and diversion of the funds to another object. He said he would likei some expression of opinion from the union on the course it favoured. With the outbreak of war he did not think it would be possible to sustain interest in the carnival and lie thought that the central executive should ask the participating bodies for their opinions on the future of the funds raised ) possibly by way of a public meeting. Mr T. Gee (Taneatua) said that the union had implicit confidence in the president and they could leave the matter in his hands.
