PUBLIC WORKS ESTIMATES The clerk reported to the Whak.l- - County Council at Tuesday's meeting that he had received a copy of the Public. Works estimates giving details of amounts affecting the county. These have already been published in the BEACON. Continuing the report stated that the total expenditure on the Roto-nut-Waikamnicana road to the 31st March last was £127,824 and the estimated cost of this work whe;< authorised wa s £200,024. Similar figures for the Whakataneo River Ruatoki Bridge are as follows: Expenditure to 31st March, - 1930. £4689 and the estimated cost £8908. The following items which appnal- - the council's estimates did not appear in the Public Works estimate • Fraser's Road £? 13s; Manawahe S- < tlement Roads £1000; McCoy's R<£100; Newton's Bridge £11 13s '
Matata Water Supply £1000; Ohope Road Bridge £180; Ferguson's Road £1000; Omehu Outfall Bridge (Railway Road West) £650; Onepu Road £224; Chvhakatora road £o(>Q; ; Selwyn Road £300; Sladden's Road £800; Stanley Road £100. The amounts granted apjjeared to vary from the council's application in the following instances: Godmond's Road—£2oo applied for on the basic of £1 for £1. Granted £400 being £200 Public Works Department and County Council. Whirinaki Ford Road —£200 applied for on the basis of £3 for £1. Granted £100 being £100 Public Works Department and £50 County Council. Ruatoki —£450 free money applied for, rt -p-trd £000. being £600 Public w Department and £200 County Kopuriki Stream Bridge -
