PIPERS ON PARADE
NEW UNIFORMS ON SHOW GRAND INGLESIDE TO_MORRO\V Braw laddies in their showy newGrant tartan uniforms, the Whakatanc Caledonian Soqiety pipe band will be on parade to-morrow night at the grand Ingleside in the Winter Show Hall, and the twelve pipers and drummers will present a sight that will give Whakatane cause for pride as they march through the town to the hall. Behind the purchase of these costly uniforms lies a stofy ~ of j hard work and enterprise. The uniforms themselves represent an expenditure of about £300, and with the cost of the instruments the band carries close on £500 worth cf equipment. The players are reaching a high standard bv their constant practicing and- with plenty of marching practice they should form a combination equal to any pipe band in the country. The red Grant tartan is one of the most striking of the uniforms of the clans and its chqjce for the Whakatane clansmen is particularly happy.
The Ingleside is to be a monster allair, and there" is no doubt that the hall will be crowded for this most popular of evenings.
