FANCY DRESS BALL

SCHOOLCHILDREN HAVE HAPPY NIGHT

RAISING FUNDS FOR DENTAL CLINIC ' There must have been some heavy little heads on iFriday morning after the A'ery successful schoolehildrens' | fane*}' dress ball held in the Winter Show Hall on Thursday night, Pol many of the young people kept up with the adults until the dance ended at midnight. The function, to raise funds for the Dental Clinic j was the means of raising, £65 an excellent step towards the accom pLishment of the object. The discipline and training of the -100 children was wonderfully good, and they were under complete control at all times. For this great credit must go to the infant mistress Miss Daldy, and also, of course, to r«ll the. other teachers who were present:' A feature which di'ew admiring comment was the high standard of all costumes; some were particularly good but n °t one was commonplace or inferior, and the scene as the ehil dren of all ages took part in folk dances, or essayed the waltz, the Lambeth Wdlk or Palais Glide was a charming one. It was pleasant to sec the tiny tots struggling deter, minedly to f:t theii* steps to the music without a trace of self_consciousncss, and the yells of approval which broke out when special dances for the children were announced showed how thoroughly the younjg people were enjoying themselves. The dance was not confined to chil dren, for parents and other adults took the floor, and they too thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The excellent music came from a combined orchestra consisting of units of Ted Haydcn's Freddy Burt's and Glen Haydcn's orchestras. The big task of serving supper to the hundreds present was accomplish ed by helpers too numerous lo detail.
