GUARANTEED PRICE

PRINCIPLE SUPPORTED MEETING OF RANGITAIKI FARMERS "That this meeting of dairy farmers supports the principle of the guaranteed price as instituted in th;* Primary Products Marketing Act, 1936." This was the motion passed at a meeting of between 70 and 80 dairy farmers at Edgecumbc tit the beginning of last week, and copies of it are being sent to the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, the New Zealand Dairy. Board, the Minister of and also the two members for the district. The meeting was convened by Mr J. W. Sumner, who had circularised a large number of the suppliers to tlie Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Co. Mr W. A. McCracken was in the chair. There seemed to be no antagonism against the guaranteed price principle, the main course of argument being in regard to the destination of the motion. About half the gather, ing thought it should lie sent to the Dairy Board, and handed by that body to the Government, the other half thinking motion should go to the Prinze Minister direct, as well as being sent to the dairy board. A noteworthy feature of 'the meeting was some excellent speeches by farmers. The discussion thus gave those present an excellent opportunity to put forward their views on the' guaranteed pricc topic.
