WHAKATANE WEILL TAURANGA TOO TOUGH Tauranga decisively defeated Wha-* katane in the final match of the 15 grade championship of the Bay of Plenty to the tune of ten matches to one. Whakatane could only manage to win two men's doubles, and in all the other matches, the combination and positional play of Tauranga were very much superior. As Tauranga had already won the series, tlie games were played in a very friendly spirit and Whakatane enjoyed tlie matches all the more be- 1 cause of good feeling that prevailed. There is to be a Bay of Plenty wind.up to be held at Tauranga oa August 12th, and Whakatane will send up a team of eight players to represent the club there. Results of matches (with Tail* ranga names first):— Ladies' Doubles: Misses Dixon and Anderson beat Mrs Cato and Miss Jacombs 21-7; Misses Dixon and Atn» derson. beat Misses Woolliams anil Blythe 21-5; Misses Alley and Bart.*, le'tt beat Misses Woolliams and Blythe 21.4; Misses Alley and Bartlett beat Mrs Cato and Miss Jacombs 21-t> Men's Doubles: Gammon and ston beat E. Wilson and V. Timbs 21-10; Gammon and Johnston beat 11. Young and I. Woolliams 21-14;S Anderson and Tanner lost to E. Wilson. and V. Timbs 15-21; Anderson and Tanner lost to H. Young and Ij Woolliams 17.21. (Sombines: Miss Dixon and Gammoit beat Mrs Cato and Wilson 21-12; Miss Anderson and Anderson beat Miss Blythe and Timbs 21-12; Miss Bart., iett and Johnston beat Miss Wool-* Hams and Young 21.12; Miss Alley and Tanner beat Miss Blythe and Woolliams 21-14.
