A ROYAL WHEAT
A mm- Canadian rust-resisting wheat which has been developed at the Dominion Rust Research Laboi*a. Tories in Winnipeg, has been named Regent in honour of the visit to Canada of the King and Queen, The,, new wheat has been found to be ro. sistant to stem rust as well as to Teaf rust and smut. Orders have beeii ♦received by the Government from hundreds of Canadian wheat farm c-rs, most of the letters arriving by the new air mail service acioss the Dominion. A limit of four bushels per farmer has been made.. The new variety is a beardless, white-chaffed varietv with a strong stem. Commerci?! milling tests in England showed that Regent was well up to j expectations.
