FAREWELL EVENING (Beacon Correspondent) [ ; A farewell evening was held in the - Waimana Hall recently for Mr ai?d . Mrs Mclvor, who have left the district. The function was arranged by the residents of the district and the Waimana Goif Club. All jiresent enjoyed the evenirtg of dancing, the music for which Avas supplied by Mrs King, and extras were contributed by Miss M. Wardlaw and Mr Print. Mr H. Wardlaw- made a most efficient M. C. and Mr King acted as doorkeeper. The Monte Carlo waltz Avas Avon by Miss Joa,n McConnell and partner; During the function, little Monica Boynton sang most SAA T eetly several modern hfts and was loudly applauded, and Miss Ngaire Mitchell gaA r e a clever Gipsy in costume and a tap dance as an encore. After a dainty supper had been served by the married ladies, Mr R. Fleming called on Mr and Mrs Mc_ lA*or to accept a cheque from all present showing the esteem in .which they we re held by all, and Mr N. Macdonald, on behalf of the Waimana Golf Club, presented Mr Mclvor Avith a novelty Avith best Avislies for his future career. Mrs T. WardlaAv then on behalf of [the Drama Circle of the Women's Institute,, asked, Mrs, MclA-or to accept a small gift from her felloAV members Avith their best Avishes, saying her services as a member would be greatly missed. Mr and Mrs McTvor replied thanking all for the enjoyable evening and the gifts, AA-hich Avere much a'ppreciated. The singing of "For They Are Tolly Good Fclloaa's" and the National Anthem closed a pleasarft eA r ening.
