Mr R. J. Kerr id ge, Auckland, was at the Whakatane Hotel on Thursday Mr L. Ormond has returned to Whakatane. Mrs Burgess, Miss M. Burgess and Miss R. Grose, Whakatane, have ie. turned after a few days in Auckland. M ? ss N. Hillas, of Pahiatua, who has been the guest of Mrs S. Eagle of Taneatua is also paying a visit to Mrs A. Eagle of Waimana. Mr R. Girling Chief Inspector of Fire Brigades and Explosives was a recent guest at the Whakatane Hotel. A recent civil service appointment of great interest locally is that of Mr R. L. Innis to the po ition of Chief Drainage Engineer. The ap. po'ntment is published in the latest Gazette. Nurse Tyne, who has left the staff of the Whakatane Public returned to-day to her home in Napier. Her friends are pleased to know that she has made a good recovery from her recent accident. In the latest issue of the Gazette the transfer of Captain R. Jones, Ist Battalion, Hauiaki Regiment to the Auckland Regiment is not fled, and also the posting of Second-Lieuten-ant A. R. Gough to the Ist Cadet Battalion. Mrs T.
