STRONG LANGUAGE
RAILWAYMAN IN COURT ALTERCATION WITH CARRIER Chailes McCarthy, railway porter, of Taneatua, who was charged with the use of obscene language in a public place on May 15 at Taneatua, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Mr E. L. Walton, S.M. at the Whakatane Court 0.1 Wednesday. Constable O. Rice said that Mc. Carthy. had an. altercation with a cairier and used the language referred to. The other man concerned would also come before the court. The language was not provocative or abusive said McCarthy. Since he was a railwayman the matter would be referred to head office and might mea,n his dismissal. McCarthy was fined £2. Thomas Hunt, carrier, w r ho was charged with assault and the use of obscene language did not appear, and on Constable Rice's application the case was adjourned to August 19.
