hurrying up construction In an effort to get the construction of the new post office expcdited.'-hc Whakatane Borough Council, at its meeting on, Monday night ,d,ecidecl to approach Mr A. G. Hultquist M. P. and ask liim to take the ; niatter up with the Government. The subject came up when general business was called for, and the Mayor said that he had been in touch with the poolmaster at Whakatane, who had told him that everything was in the hands of the Public Works Department, who were at present very busy wit!; their own work. He moved that Mr Hultquist be asked to take the mat. ter and that the authorities be esked to expedite it. Cr A. J. Canning said that Ihe Hon. F. Jones had said months ago that tenders would be called as soon as minor alterations had been made in the plans. If the department did not act they would not be able to g'jt the Winter Show Building.
