WHAKATANE BRANCH MEETS The monthly meeting of the Wha* katanc Branch of the League ol Mothers was held in the Presbyterian Hall on Tuesday last. Mrs Sullivan presided over a good attendance. Mrs W. B. Gow read a very inter* esting paper written for the South Auckland confcrcncc by Mrs Moore of Hamilton, stressing the require, mcnts of the modern, mother. The thought for the month was given by Mrs Gray. A short discussion on the suggested route of the main highway past the hospital was held. Those present unanimously endorsed the protest by the Hospital Board against the proposal. Miss Rubi greatly charmed the audi encc with two solos ''The Piper from Over the Way" and ''The Lilac-Tree" A-dainty afternoon tea was served by two members of the committee.
