o DRAMATIC CIRCLE HOLDS AFTERNOON READING By way of change two plays were presented in the club's l'ooms last Thursday afternoon by country mem. bers under the direction of Miss Howell and Miss Greenup. It was a most enjoyable afternoon and it is hoped that otheris will follow. One play was called ''Followers" and was by Harold Brighouse. The readers were; Miss Raines, Miss Greenup: Helen. Masters, Mrs Norman Carter; Susan, Mrs Hopkirk; Colonel Redfern, Miss Howell. The other play was called ''Becky Sharp/' an adaption from Thackeray by Alice Conway. The cast was: Rawdon Crawley, Miss Howell; George Osborne, Miss Greenup; Joseph Sedley, Mrs J. Conoily; Becky Sharp, Mrs Hawkeu: Amelia, Miss D. Boon. Among the audience were: Mes. dames W. Bridger Brabant (Senr), E. Armstrong, Appleby, Mollgaard. S',sam i G. Booth, E. Haultain, Al~ Kelly-Smith, Littlejohn, Luxton, Allan Gartshore, W. Roberts, Alexander (Taneatua) Pearsc, H. Armstrong, W. Sullivan, R. Boon, Cutler. Misses Stewart, Whiteside. A delicious afternoon tea was handed round by the ladies from the conn, try.
