ACCIDENT AT PAENGAROA DRIVER'S EXPLANATION A different construction on eA r ents than that placed on th.in by those iriA'olA T ed in the motor accident at Paengaroa 011 Wednesday morning June 14 has been by the motorist Avho arriA'ed on. the scene shortly after the collision Avith the bull. Both those in the Avrecked car, and the driver of the car which brought the injured man to Te Puke, Avere under the impression that he had refused to render assistance. HoAvever he maintains that Avhile considering the best course of Mr W. Godinagh armed on the scene, travelling in the direction of Te Puke. Mr A. Ruebe was immediately taken aboard, by Mr Godinagh, Avho drove off AA'hile the first motorist avms still on the scene. From his arrival on the .scene to Mr Godinagh's departure, was no more than four minutes. He proceeded to the dance at Otamara kau. Avhere he says he mentioned the accident to scAeral people. While realising that any incorrect impression gained currency quite unwittingly, and is explained by the mental stress following the accident, he feels that his explanation should be knoAvn. PLEASING THE WIFE A patient was sick in hospital and he asked one of the nurses to Avrite a letter for him to his missus. "The hospital is nice '' he told, her to Avrite. ''but the nurses are a poor lot, AA'ith faces like horses." "OlV" the nurse said, "that's not fair on 11s, you know." ''Yes. I know."' he told her, •'but put it dgAvn just the same. It'll nleiase Hie "missus."
