o HURT AT PRACTICE A fractured collarbone was received by I. Woolliams, a, member of the Star junior team when he was tackled during practice on the Domain last Sunday. SHIPPING The Northern Ster.mship Company's Whakatane agency yesterday alter, noon haxl had no advice of the despatch of the Toa from Auckland, but thought that possibly she would be in Whakatane this afternoon. SUITE OF (FURNITURE The competition for the suite of furnj ture ;i;t the Show was won by two year old Miss Jean Tressider of Awaken. The ticket was purchased by her grandmother. Mr E. Montgomery of Whakatane won the* second prize. ELECTRICAL WIREMEN There was one Whakatane candi. date in the written, part and two in the practical part of the electrical wiremen's examinations held ;n March Mr E. Morey securing, a pass in the second part. There were two candidates in the written part and two in the practical part of the electrical servicemen's examination, and Mr D B. Miller passed in the first part ar.cl Mr N. A. W. Carter in the second section.

CHILDREN'S CLASSES Judge in the elocution class in the children's competitions at the Winter Show was Mrs J. B. Rid dell, the stewards being Mr C. C. Southey and Miss M. Whiteside. The show committee states that it is grateful for their help.
