PLUNGE INTO RIVER
ACCIDENT IN W AIM AN A GORGE TRUCK LEAVES THE ROAD Leaving the road, it is stated through the failure of the steering gear, a 'truck owned by the Motu_ bora Timber Company, and driven by a man named Fablish, plunged down the bank in the Waimana i Gorge and into the river where it was almost completely submerged. The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon about 3.30 when Fablish, with three young men as passengers. wa§ travelling with a load ol furniture from Rotorua to Motuhora. No one was very seriously hurt, but one ma>n, whose name was Burke, received a broken collarbone and other injuries and was treated at Whau katane. The others received minor abrasions. All were drenched to the skin.
