UNION LEAVES OLD OFFICE
Bank officers and members of the firm of Boon, Sullivan Luke Ltd., contractors for the new building, lent a hand on Saturday when, the office fittings and books of the Union Bank of Australia were • removed from the old premises on the corner of The Strand and George Street to the temporary oil ice opposite The I lock. Naturally enough the removal w"s carried out to a running fire of face, tious remarks from pnssers_bv y including occasional requests from customers to ''Lose my overdraft. ' Some humour enlivened the proceedings when the teller's desks were removed. One bank officer found a halfpenny, but the major prize fell to another worker. He recovered 3d. The bank is now installed in its temporary home which it will occupy for some months until the new building is completed. FARMER OVERCOMES FLOODS Mr P. Brav, a. farmer, whose lowland acres have been flooded by the Ohio since February 1, is beating "Old Man River.'' Mr Bray lives in a one-room house on a raft. Attached is another raft covered with soil and filled with seeds of radishes, lettuce and mustard.
