TWIN SISTERS HONOURED

PARTY ON MONDAY

An unusual birthday party —unusual because the guests of honour were seventy year old twin sisters — was held at No. 7i Domain, Road, Whakatane, on Monday when Mrs C. C. Southey, and the Misses Hard. ing ? Whakatane, entertained friends in honour of their mother, Mrs L. Harding, and their aunt, Miss G. Aikman, of Palmerston North. The reception room was tastefully decorated with bowls of autumn flowers; the guests of honour, who carried bouquets of sweet peas and carnations were the recipients of many gifts and congratulatory telegranu;. At the conclusion of afternoon tea the birthday cake was cut by the twin a, and the guests sang "For they are Jolly Good Fellows. Those present included the Rev. and Mrs K. J. Watson, Dr and Mrs F. J. Appleby, Mr and Mrs; Mcnzies (Hastings), Mrs J. T. Metcalfe (Cam bridge), Mrs A. J. Mrs M. Ramson, Misses Rajnson (2), Miss M. Whiteside, Miss L. Menzies (Hasting-), Mr C. C. Southey. Apologies for absence were rcceiv, ed from Dr and Mrs Frazerhurst Mrs H. F. Robb (Gis borne), Mrs E. E. Williams (Matawai).
