ODDFELLOWSHIP

THE INDEPENDENT ORDER SOCIAL SECURITY DISCUSSION At the regular fortnightly meeting of the Centenary Lodge, held in the Masonic Hall on Monday, May 15th. the Noble Grand, Bro. Frank Brown presided over a fair attendance. The usual business was put through with promptitude and despatch, the only subject coming in I'or a.ny length of discussion being the payment of the Social Security sick pay through lodge channels. It was pointed out that the machinery provided by the Government appeared to be unnecessarily cumbersome. Several of the brethren departed before supper on account of the visit to Opotikl coming on the following night for the ceremony of installing the officers of that Lodge for the new term. However, only one car load eventu. aflv took the road on Tuesday night. Bro W. Rixon, D.D.G.M. and thrtee other brothers from the Centenary Lodge. The Taneatua Lodge was also well represented among the visitors. Sickness and unavoidable absence had somewhat depleted the ranks of tne Opotiki members but the ritual was as impressive as ever, and the new D.D.G.M., gaining confidence with experience, made a very line showing The four members of the Centenary Lodge all agreed that in spite of the cold evening and the long trip over a very badly corrugated road (to say nothing of a puncture at mi 1 night on the- way home) the visit was a most enjoyable one and decided that it was not necessary to wait for the occasion of an important ceremony to repeat it. Tho«e members of the order who have never experienced the warmth of welcome and the atmosphere friendship when visiting another lodge have yei to experience one of the finest and brightest characteristics of OddfeL lowship.
