BURSTS INTO FLAME
• CAR AND LORRY COLLIDE ACCIDENT NEAR TE TEKO Following an accident wherein a ~ lorry and. a car collided on the main > road near Te Teko last Saturday even ing. the latter vehicle burst into - flames and was completely destroyed. Fortunately the occupants escaped without serious injury, with the cx_ - ception of a young child who was a passenger in the car and received' • slight concussion. Both vehicles were owned and driv- ■ -en by Maoris, the truck being the property of Mr Moses and the • car owned by Mr G. (Captain) Mea. Approaching from opposite diree- ( tions the two vehicles collided approximately two miles the Whaka"tane side of Te Teko and though the 'first impact was not great, the Sanies started almost immediately the occupants being forced to makt a hasty retreat. The truck was dam. aged in the front "the driving wheels -and mudguards having taken tb<j .force of the impact. £_' _
