FOUL PLAY
KICKED AT MAN'S STOMACH FOOTBALLER STOOD DOWN "This is the type of play I absolutely abhor, it is not merely rough play, but it is foul play," said Mr F. Wedcrell, reporting to the Whakatane Rugby Sub-Union at its meet ing at Ruatoki on Monday night, on •he case of Ratahi, a Paroa player, who he ordered ofi on Saturday. Mr Wcderell said Ratahi became a little excited. A Whakatane player vas holding the ball against his stom ach and Ratahi ran up and put his boot straight in. It was the type o£ kick which could cause great injury. A second offence occurred when Ratahi refused to give his name, vhich was supplied by clubmates. Mr Wedegell said Ratahi undoubtedly got a little excited but the breach should not be overlooked. l\lr Gee (Taneatua) said he was pleased at the way the referee acted and endorsed it. The player should be warned. It would have been a serious thing if such a kick had connected . Mr J. White (Whakatane) moved that the pi aver lie suspended for one playing Saturday and this was carried .
