BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS MISS S. GROVER HONOURED (Beacon Correspondent) The Waimana Hall was the scene of a most pleasant evening last Thurs dry. when .Air and Mrs D. Grovcr eiv tertaincd 150 guests at a dance im honour of their daughter, Sheelah.j who had reached the age of 21 years.! The stage was beautifully decorated with howls of pink Petunias and palms, and the floor,was in good ordU er for dancing. Excellent dance music wa s played by the Embassy Orchestra, and popular extras were contributed by Miss Jean Grover. The balloon, streamer and confetti dances caused much merriment during the evening, and the Monte Car. lo waltzs were most popular. Much appreciated vocal items were given by Mrs T. Burke and Mr jVT. Burke. A most delicious supper was served and the beautiful birthday which was iced pink and decorated with 21 tiny ltewpies, took pride of place at supper. Mr T. Burke, in well chosen words on behalf of all present, wished Miss Grover a happy birthday and hoped she would have many more happybirthdays and asked the guest of honour to accept the many beautiful and valuable gifts from all present.: Mr Grover on behalf of his daughter thanked all for coming and helping to make such a pleasant evening and for the lovely gifts. Mr M. Iving ? then on behalf of the guests thanked Mr and Mrs Grovcr for the most enjoyable evening spent by all. Mr Grover then presented his daughter with the traditional gold key. Dancing continued till the early hours and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and the National Anthem,, closed the pleasant evening. Mrs Grover received her guests wearing a smart black embossed geor gette and lace frock and black coatee.
