COWS AVERAGE 13 GNS

RAEBURN DISPLENISHING SALE:

The* first of the series of s>lud Jersey sales to be held this week was conducted by Messrs Wright Stephen son and Co. Ltd. with Mr J. S. Rae's displenishing sale of Raeburu Jerseys. Buyers were in attendance fronr the Waikato, Taranaki and Manawatu districts, and with good local competition a total clearance was effected at very satisfactory prices. Dairymen Compete While there was keen competition among breeders for individual lots a feature of the sale was the strong competition from dairymen who were cuiek to realise the value of'securing well bred cows and heifers at figures slightly above grade levels. Forty-one cows offered averaged just over 13gns, the top price being 26gns paid by Mr K. Bennett, Papamoa, for an outstanding cow Raeburn Fascination C.O.R. 5131b fat. Nineteen, rising 2 year old heifers, some of which;were small_ averaged with the top price of 24gns paid by Wright Stephenson and Co. Ltd. as agents, for a splendid daughter of Raeburn Golden Tulip H.G. by Greenmcadows Golden Star. Bulls In Demand Bulls were also in demand, a two year old by Greenmcadows Prince out of Raeburn Silver Leaf, Champion Show cow making 29gns the purchaser being Mr J. Mossop. Tokoroa. The same figure was paid by Mr G. W. Whakatane, for an outstand in e " yearling by Meon Omeu from Raeburn Golden Tulip H.C. C.O.R. 6311b fat. Individual prices were:— Cows Raeburn Treasure Lass H.C.
