POLO PONTES FOR INDIA
During a recent visit to the Waikato Lieutenant-Colonel 11. de L. Lucas, of India, arranged for t.h© purchase of the polo pony Blackbird owned by Mr F. Klaus, of Morrins. ville. Blackbird is by Raceful out of Memorial, and is a sevenLvear-old marc. The price paid was £350. Several purchases were made by Colonel Lucas in Australia, and it is understood that he spent over £<3000 during his visit to New Zealand and the Commonwealth on 28 polo ponies for the Indian market. SUCCESSFUL DANCE The opening of the new series of dances in the King Street Hall on Saturday last proved to be quite successful in. spite of bad weather. Old time and modern dancing was thoroughly enjoyed the new Pala,is Glide being not the least popular number on the programme. Supper was served in buffet style. Dancers? should watch the advertising columns of teh Beacon for particulars of ne\t Saturday's fixture at the King Street Hall.
