NEW JUNIOR TEAMS A FORWARD MOVE Several matters of interest were dealt with when general business whs rtiscussed by the annua} meeting of the Whakatane Rugby Sub-Union in the County Chambers, Whakatane. on Wednesday, April 12. The" most important was the announcement of the formation of third-grade teams, and the union's subsequent decision to circularise the clubs and request them to appoint members to a newly constituted Junior Advisory Board. The subject was introduced by Mr A. Webb, who said that he had been asked to'get a junior team going in Whakatane and he had approached a number of young fellows with success. It seemed to him a great pity that boys who had left school could not get r» game of football. "They have been playing 'two-up' and other things," he said. "It is no Use saying that the boys do not because I have seen them, and some of the men have encouraged it. It will be a great thing for the manhood of the district if we can get a game •£ lower grade football organised.," The President, Mr W. S. Henderson, said that he thought it wouldf be Avell to set up an energetic subcommittee and get on to the job right away. Mr J. Denham (Whakatane Club) suggested: that a Junior Advisory Board be set up, and this was- decided on after further discussion. Clubs will be asked to nominate their repreand the union has power to add other members. The board will send one representative: to the sub-union management committee.
