GARDEN PARTY
—o Tlie pretty grounds of Mrs Farley's home at Thornton presented a very charming picture on Thursday after, noon, when a Garden Party was given by the Anglican Church in aid of the Thornton Hall funds. _ The lawns and flower beds bordered with brilliant salvia, looked fresh and blooming in spite of the parch, ed appearance of the surrounding countryside, and a bevy of busy ladies presided at an interesting stall, where the discriminating housewife could purchase all kinds of useful produce. Afternoon tea wa s served on the shady lawn, and the happy groups of people w4th the ladies in their smart autumn frocks made a fitting complement to such a picturesque setting. . Tliere was quite a large number of people present, ajid the success of the event reflects great credit, on, all concerned, •
