She got on board 267 fathoms of broken piece, mostly found to be in excellent order. They are out again to-day, with what result is not yet known. The Bingarooma, with the English mail, arrived at the Bluff on Sunday morning, and is expected here to-mor-row morning. She brings cablegrams from London to January 8 ; not particularly interesting. Total returns West Maori election : Hoani Nahe, 650; Wi Parata, 289; Major Kemp, 182. Hokitika "election : Borff, 602 ; Button, 573; Heed, 511.

Dunedin, Tuesday evening. A swordfish, 10ft. long and 4ft. across, was captured in Port Chalmers this afternoon after a desperate fight. It is the first of the kind ever found in New Zealand waters.
