DRAINAGE OF THE TOWN.
An extraordinary meeting of the Town Board was held yesterday morning. Present-—The chairman and all the members. THE WHiHF LAMP. The Chairman said in future the lamp would be regularly lighted. THE DRAINAGE QUESTION. Mr Samuels apologised for being absent at the last meeting ; it was, however, unavoidable. He briefly referred to the present disgraceful state of W iliow-street, and urged upon the Board to take immediate action in endeavouring to remedy the evil, Mr Samuels concluded by proposing, ‘‘ That the secretary be instructed to write to the General Government requesting that the Resident Engineer bo allowed to take the levels ; also, asking for pecuniary assistance towards draining the town of le Papa, as the Oeneral Government possess a largo quantity of land iu the district and the Board are without funds to carrv out the wop.” Mr Cunway seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. On the motion of Mr HTcDouald, seconded hy Mr Wrigley, the following gentlemen were appointed a deputation to wait upon the District Engineer in the matter: —Captain Tunka, Mr Samuels, and Mr Conway. OUTLET TO THE TOWN. Mr Wrigley proposed, and Mr Samuels seconded, “ That the secretary be instructed to write to Captain Turner asking what correspondence (if any) bad been received from Government respecting the formation of a proper outlet from the beach to the Cameron Road. The meeting then adjourned.
