(PUOM,. HEED AND BRETT'S AXMANAO.) h dow Ea Garden.—Bow annuals mostly on light rich soil, ceuothera, godetia, and noianadobestou poor soil. Bow sweet scabious and other perennials, binieh bedding out as far as possible. Peg the branches of bedding plants close to the ground* to lorm a dense compact border. Sow seeds of hi.o growing grosses on bare places ia lawns* Newij made lawns should bo mown one© a week* for some time, until a goad bottom is obtained. Kitchen and Fruit Gaudbn.—Sow cucumbers and melons. Sow pumpkins, vegetable marrow, water melons, &o, Tho true custard marrow i« one of the most delicious kinds grown* and a prolific yiolder, but it is not commonly seen here. Bow tomatoo and capsicum. Sow cauliflower, cabbage, pea®, and beans lor succession j sow carrot) French beans, scarlet runners | sow turnip fm succession ; sow celery ; stake peas aa they require it j thin out advancing crops ; keep down weeds. Transplant cabbage, cauliflower* &c., whenever necessary. Plant late potatoes where not already done. Look closely after mice and slugs. Pu« walks, edgings, and borders ia good order, and keep everything neat and orderly* Sow a little silver beet for blanching. Finish grafting 3 thin out peaches, towards tho middle of the month, pinch back all luxuriant shoots 3 thin sterile shoots on vines; thin oat pears, when set too thickly, at the close of tho month. Vines fruiting freely should be watered with weak liquid manure. Keep the ground open and loose on the surface.
FAim.—There is usually plenty of grass at this time, and stock should be thriving j wethers that are fit for the butcher may be shorn before asset-* iog to market j the flock may be Washed for shear-* about the middle or latter end of this mouth. The first of October will be soon enough to shat up young grass where the seed is to be saved* although if it is perennial rye grass catting in the first year will seriously injure lb, and except on the best land will almost destroy the plant. Great* care should be taken not to allow any docks or thistles to ripen there while it is growing ; indeed thia month and next they will require to be care* fully watched, and as many of them destroyed as possible over the whole farm. Linseed may be sown this month, although it has not been grown long enough here to speak positively as to the beat time. Grass may be sown during this month.
