About fiifty new books arrived by the Southern Cross last week for the Tauranga Mechanics’ Institute, amongst which we are glad to find some light reading of gr - t merit and repute. The grants made at intervals by the Provincial Government are generally confined to wor' ' of a ‘ he..vier” nature; hence we think the Book Committee has only consulted the wishes of the general body of subscribers in supplying the Institute with a certain amount of amusing 'and easily digested food for the mind. The usual monthly master parade of the Tauranga Bifle Volunteers took place on Saturday afternoon at the Government paddock.
