The Chairman, proposing “ The Local borces of the Colony,” complimented the men on the genera! satisfaction they had given, their attendance to drill, and their efficiency in sword exercise and rifle practice. It had been the intention of the officer commanding the station to have been present, but ho was prov.-r.tcd by other business. However, ho would read a letter just received from him : —“ Opotiki, March 9.--To the officer commanding B.P. V. Cavalry.—Sir, I have the honor.to desire you will bo good enough to expre ,s to your noncommissioned officers and men my satisfaction at the manner in which they have behaved during the pint wi-ck.
