BEAUTIFUL NEW ZEALAND
You've all heard beautiful stories Of countries far over the sea, From whence came our ancestors To establish this land of the free. There are some folks who still like to travel, To see what they have over there, But when they do look, it's not like the book. And they find there is none to compare With beautiful New Zealand. Beautiful New Zealand, Where flowers and forests grow, We're proud of our climate, Rain, sunshine or snow. You can live on the plains near the mountains, Or down where the sea breezes blow — But you're still in New Zealand, The most wonderful place I know. You can travel on the highways, By the city, village and farm. Or fly above on the skyways— The beauty below you will charm; Green meadows, green forests, blue rivers. Golden wheat fields and fruit trees that bear; if vou look the wide world over " you'll see New Zealand has beauty to spare. In this poem about New Zealand There's one thing I still have to say: More than a million people Are proud that they're here to stay. It's great to be healthy and happy, And that seems to be our fate, So let us all smile, for life is worth while, When you live in this beautiful State. By Murielle Smith, Ohakune (17).
