UPLIFT
I have given thought to the letters defending Mr. Chandler's criticism of the Church. I still fail to see that wholesale denunciation of any system can produce good results (a) due recognition °£ the good work being done, and that achieved in the past by that system; (b) suggestions for improvement. With reference to (a) it has to be acknowledged that no good law, no good reform, social or economic, has been carried out ce Pt has been the product of the Church s portrayal of the teaching or Christ. Mass individualism has attained these results. Those who care to investigate can find thousands of similar selfless, hard working, yes, and deep thinking souls plodding along to-day for the uplift of man,in this Process of evolution, iney have accomplished, are accomplishing, and I am confident will accomplish much more in spite of the douche of cold water thrown on tneir efforts. Many of us await with interest Mr. Chandler's suggestions for overcoming the difficulties of the present day. HELEN DEBENHAM.
