VENEREAL DISEASE CURE

[ The prevalence of venereal disease is exercising the minds of our auth<3rities and it is very much to the point that the latest report on the matter should be available. From an American paper I take the following: "Large scale tests, according to Surgeon General Thomas Parran of the U.S. Public Health Service have proven that gonorrhea can be cured in five days, which, in Dr. Parran's words, is a giant step forward in the total eradication of venereal disease . . . According to Dr. Parran sulfathiozole is capable of curing at least 80 per cent of all gonorrheal infections. The remaining 20 per cent, he reports, may be cured by another course of the same drug, or by other special methods. The Surgeon General warns the public against self diagnosis and self treatment." The source from which I quote, the American Freeman, is a very reliable paper, and only quotes the best .authorities at all times. The time is overdue when we should have the benefit of this great advance in fighting venerea' disease and there should be no need for long months of treatment if a five day cure is at hand. The result in efficiency in wartime is obvious, to mention only one aspect. HEALTH.
