AIR GUNNER'S SUCCESS

CHOSEN* FOR COMMISSION*

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. Official advice has been received by air headquarters in Wellington that Leading Aircraftman Duncan Mac Donald Brownell Church, of thrR.N.Z.A.F., has been selected in Canada for a commission in the rank of pilot officer. He is the first New Zealand air gunner to be selected for a commission in Canada under the Empire training scheme. Pilo' Officer Church was born in Ashburton in September, 1917, and prior to' his departure to Canada was servm the equipment branch of the R.N.Z.A.F. His mother is Mrs. V. E. Church, of Hamilton.
