NOT EXCESSIVE

PRIMARY PRODUCE STOCKS Stocks of primary produce held in store were not such as to prove embarrassing, stated the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Barclay, last evening. He described the position as satisfactory and better than at this time last year. Substantial quantities of meat had been disposed of during the year, and, according to present indications, the industry would be in a comfortable position in regard to cool storage by the end of the meat year, on September 30. and would be able to start the new season without this handicap. Good clearances of butter had also been made from stores during the past season, and the carry-over would not be burdensome. There was a fair surplus of cheese, but not to any great extent.
