AVERAGE YARDING
WESTFIELD SALES There was an improved demand for an average entry of ox beef at the Westfield fat stock sales to-day, and values improved 1 ' per 1001b. The values for cows and heifers were also improved and the yarding was also an average one. AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons. Dalgety and Co., and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, report on the sale as follows:—Beef: An average yarding of good quality ox sold under an improved demand at values showing an improvement of 1•' per 1001b at late rates. The yarding of cows and heifers was also an average one; as with ox beef, values were also improved. Extra choice ox sold to 39/ per 1001b: choice and prime ox, 36/ to 38. ; ordinary and plain, 32/ to 34/; prime young cow and heifer beef 30/ to 34. ; ordinary cow beef. 22. to 24 '. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £15 10 to £16 10 ; heavy prime steers, £13 10/ to £15; lighter prime steers. £12 to £13; light prime steers. £11 to £11 15/; small and unfinished steers, £8 10' to £10 10 ; extra heavv prime young cows and heifers. £10 10' to £11 s'; heavy prime cows and heifers. £9 5' to £10 5/; lighter prime cows and heifers. £7 10/ to £8 15, ; other tillable cows. £5 to £7.
