EGG GRADING
The snoriage of eggs, which was caused by the abnormal demand for the armed forces as well as the public, through the lean period of the year, has centred a great deal of interest on the marketing of eggs.
One of the most important functions of the wholesale distributor is to see that all eggs are correctly graded into the various grades for size as well as to eliminate stale or inferior quality eggs. Messrs. Turners and Growers, Ltd., indented just prior to the war what is considered to be the most wonderful machine of its kind in the world. Not only does it weigh every egg (and correctly weigh them), but it also counts and can stamp each egg. Besides this function it has a special lighting arrangement through which the girls in charge of the machine can see through the eggs and discern any imperfections while the eggs slowly turn on the revolving belt.—(P.B.A.)
