WITHOUT ENVELOPES
POSTING OF INVOICES PAPER SAVING PROPOSAL (0.C.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The Post and Telegraph Department will co-operate witn business firms which post invoices and other matter without envelopes as a papersaving effort, but certain requirements have to be met, according to information received by the Can terbury Chamber of Commerce from the Chief Postmaster, Mr. V. C. Lawn. The requirements are briefly that the minimum size of the paper when folded must not be less than about 4in by 2Jin, that wire staples must not be used, and that a space of liin must be left at the top of the address side for postage stamps and postmarks and only the address must be shown on the remainder of that side. The department's objection to the use of wire staples, it is stated, is that they damage postmarking heads and also rubber rollers, which are difficult to replace.
