REMAND OF CONSTABLE
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE (0.C.) W HAN G ARE I, Friday. Appearing before Messrs. J. T. B. Taafe and W. Atkins this afternoon Herbert Hunter Barrett, police constable at Mangonui, who on Wednesday was remanded on a charge of the attempted murder of Mata Soko Urlich at Lake Ohia on Monday, was further remanded in custody to appear at Whangarei on Tuesday. The application for a remand was made by Inspector J. Fox. The condition of Urlich is slightly improved. He was operated upon for a second time to-day, and the hospital authorities reported that he had come through the opera; ion successfully.
