Party Of Farm Experts Reaches United Kingdom DESIRE TO INCREASE YIELD Rec. 11 a.m. LONDON, July 24. The Minister of Agriculture. Mr. R. S. Hudson, welcomed six New Zealand agricultural instructors, each widely experienced in agriculture and an experienced broadcaster and specialist in some sphere. They will stay for the duration of the war. The party travelled in a freighter. Mr. G. A. Holmes, senior member of the party, said: "We are bursting with energy and longing to get down to our job." The instructors came to England at Mr. Hudson's request for the purpose of assisting the Ministry's drive to increase Britain's food production. Mr. Hudson was impressed by New Zealand's yield in crops per acre and he asked the New Zealand Government to lend experts for the purpose of passing on advice to British farmers. The members of the party will lecture throughout the country on New Zealand farming methods and also make personal contact with farmers in all parts of the country.
The New Zealanders to-day met officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and began preparing plans for their campaign.
It was announced in Wellington on June 10 that the six experts would be: Messrs. G. A. Holmes. M.Sc., B.Agr.. A.1.C., Wellington, who is the leader; A. A. Copland, M.Agr.Sc., Timaru: G. S. Robinson, B.Agr.Sc., Levin: S. L. Green, M.Agr.Sc , Palmerston North; A. A. Johnson, Diploma of Dairy Farming, Stratford; and A. Longwill, B.Agr.Sc., Pukekohe. •
