APTITUDE TESTS
_It is refreshing to note Mr. Hogwood and others advocating the use ot special aptitude tests" by the armed forces for guidance in educational courses, and particularly for selection and placing of personnel. As these tests have been devised and in use for years in U.S.A. and other countries, it would be interesting to Know why the army and air force here have not adopted them for universal use. The more scientific use of manpower and womanpower is surely worth while at this time. A recent Press report savs that all men called up in New South Wales will now be submitted to aptitude tests, and the system is soon to be extended to other States. Perhaps if the war lasts long enough we may vet see them adopted by cur own progressive defence administration. WHY NOT.
