RAILWAY PERMITS
MANY APPLICATIONS TRAVELERS (»V'KR|tOO MILES Up to last evening about 300 people had been granted permits exempting them from the ban on railway travel of more than 100 miles. This ban comas into force on Monday. The issue of\ permits began on Tuesday, and so far about 100 applicants have had their applications refused. Permits have been granted to wives of members of the armed forces during leave, delegates to conferences, school boarders travelling to and from their schools, teachers in isolated districts. racehorse owners and trainers proceeding to meetings, and commercial travellers. A large number of honeymoon couples have also been successful.
