BELGIANS IN THE R.A.F.

Rec. 10 a.m. LONDON, July 23. Speaking at the Belgian National Day luncheon, the Under-Secretary for Air, Captain H. H. Balfour, referred to the part played by Belgian pilots. Those who fought in the battle for Britain destroyed 18 enemy aircraft. Their total to-day was 40. There was now a complete Belgian fighter squadron equipped with the latest Spitfires. Two British fighter squadrons are also under the leadership of Belgians, one of whom was the first Allied officer in the Royal Air Force to command a British squadron. Belgian airmen were also in night fighters apd bombers.
