NEW STANDARDS
WOMEN MUST HELP
When speaking at a reception given in her honour by the Business and Professional Women's Club of the Y.W.C.A. in Wellington, Mrs. A. N. Grigg, M.P., said that our men would come back from the war with a new standard of values, an appreciation of the essential, and a contempt for the trivial. "And we women have to be ready to match up to that standard," she said. _ "In wartime the spirit of a nation lies in the hands of its women—a spirit not only of courage, but of a spiritual reaching out and climbing towards the stars. In our hands lies a great task, a grave responsibility, to prepare among the perils of war for the perils of peace, to strengthen and arm ourselves, to control and discipline ourselves, so that we may be not only willing but able in this generation to lay some stable foundation for peace for the generations to come."
