AUCKLAND TRAINER'S TEAM

The Ellorslie trainer E. George will I have a fairly large team to represent ' him in the new season. The list com- I prises Clinch, Foxlore. Gentry, Venture and Happicoat, and four rising two-year- i olds. They are all in first-rate condition and just about ready to commence more serious work. This trainer had a good innings during the present term, his chief stake winner being Clinch, which gathered in over £1300. As the son of Appellant and Marble Bell was not over-raced, owing to track conditions being against him on several occasions, his returns were highly satisfactory. Gentry won a couple of races and was placed in several other events, her earnings being approximately £450. This filly was spelled after Easter and came in looking well. She has not grown to any extent, but has filled out and should pay her way next term, for there is no doubt about her speed.

During the short period that Foxlore was in work at headquarters he won a mile event at Ellerslie in convincing style, but later ricked himself and had to be eased up. He is in regular work again, and in great order for this time of the year. In his races the son of Foxbridge displayed definite signs of stamina and he is likely to show to advantage in middle distance events in the new period. The youngsters are General Burleigh, Dinkum Pal, Stepping and an unnamed chestnut filly by Cambria Park—Recipio. General Burleigh is a brother to Gentry, but is built on very massive lines and may need more time than his relative. Dinkum Pal compares very favourably with others of the same age by Dink and is shaping nicely in his work. Stepping is the first of Chatsworth's progeny to be put into work. She is a very compact filly and has improved noticeably during the past month. The Cambria Park filly is a full-sister to those proved performers Bronwen and Cambria. She looks like one that will come to hand early, being a neat-looking youngster and has evidently been well done.
