RESPONSE LAGS
PATRIOTIC FIND APPEAL
The raising of patriotic funds was discussed at a meeting of the Auckland Patriotic Association last evening, when it was stated in a report by the 1942 Appeal Committee that so far £28,526 had been raised towards the provincial quota of £275,000. The prospect of obtaining the quota through direct giving was remote, and the general view of members was that other methods would have to be tried. A radio campaign would be Inaugurated for a fortnight early next month.
The chairman, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, said that he had been told unofficially that all the sick and wounded fund had been spent. It was decided to send tne report to the Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, as he had given assurances in regard to direct giving. The report will be further considered at the next meeting.
