RECEIVER CAUGHT
THREE MONTHS' IN GAOL Leslie James Wedderspoon, a bootmaker, aged 26, was brought before Mr. J. Morling. S.M., in the Police Court to-day, when he pleaded guilty to a charge of receiving from a person unknown, two suits, a wristlet watch, fountain pen and leather wallet, of a total value of £31 18/, well knowing the same to have been dishonestly obtained. Detective-Sergeant Trethewey said accused's house was searched under warrant yesterday by Detective-Ser-Keant F. N. Aplin and Detective I. V. .Jones, when the articles mentioned were found. Wedderspoon admitted receiving them from a person who had stolen them from four dwellings but whose name he would not disclose. A married man, Wedderspoon had previously been before the court. "The offence or receiving stolen property is quite a serious one," added Mr, Trethewey. "Wedderspoon paid £7 10/ for the articles, which is less than a quarter of the true value." Wedderspoon, who had nothing to sav except that he had been frank with the police, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
