AFTER OPERATION
DEATH OF SOLDIER
WAS INJURED BY BAYONET (P.A.) WAIROA, this day. Private John Angus McCarthy, who some days ago suffered injury when he slipped and fell, a bayonet going through a leg, failed to rally after the amputation of the limb and died this morning. Private McCarthy was a married man, aged 34. He had no family. He was previously employed as a linotypist by the Gisborne Herald.
